The philosophical workshop “Perception-Thought Transitions”, organized by Ruhr-University Bochum will take place on the 22nd & 23rd of October 2026 at Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany.
The workshop will focus on discussions of new philosophical results about the nature of perception and thought and their relationships including
- The representational structure of perception and thought: conceptual/non-conceptual, propositional/non-propositional, compositional/non-compositional, pictorial/non-pictorial
- The role of perception in grounding thought: conditions of grounding, format, content
- Constructive processes leading to perceptual representations and thinking
The following keynote speakers are confirmed: Ned Block, Tyler Burge, Ophelia Deroy, Gabriele Ferretti, Kevin Lande, Fiona Macpherson, Francesco Marchi, Albert Newen, Ayoob Shahmoradi.
Call for papers
We are inviting philosophical contributions from philosophy of mind focussed on but, not limited to, the following topics:
